Happy New Year!!!

Well, it’s 2012! Crazy.

Last new year’s, I vowed that I would take part in different things in the city and get out of my comfort zone. I did that and I plan to keep at it. It definitely made life interesting. You never know what one adventure might lead into.

This year, my main goal is to draw more – to not be afraid of my pen & ink or pencil & paper and just draw. If one drawing doesn’t work out, that’s alright. I’ll just put it away and start another. To put it off just makes things worse and more daunting.

I have a few things I am hoping to get to do this year but I’m really game to see where time will lead me. One thing might change a few other of my goals in a good way.

Above is my try at typography. I’d like to get into it more as it’s an overlooked part of a poster that can be as much of an illustration as the rest of the image.

So, the song of the week I have for you is Australia by The Bicycles. This one I find represents the dark days of winter. I’m thinking it’s that solid base line.

I wish you all the best this year! May 2012 be one of the best!

A creative block. That is why I started this little corner yet I seem to have been in one for this one. I usually stay up working on whatever idea on Friday nights from something I thought of or started through the week. This week, my creative block was resolved by my favourite technique of solving it, drawing a hole bunch of squares and draw for a while until I like an idea.

So, the song for this week is something a little more on the rap side of things with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Can’t Hold Us. I find it’s a catchy upbeat song that you can’t help but dance a little listening to it.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I’ll write to you again next week!
